  • Perform troubleshooting on security equipment.

To apply for the Nitec in Security Technology course, you need to have:

Complete GCE ‘N’ or GCE ‘O’ Level

Note: Applicants applying for this course must ensure that they do not suffer from colour-appreciation deficiency.

Progression Opportunities

Nitec in Security Technology graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. For more details on diploma courses for progression, please refer to the Joint Polytechnic Admissions website

Nitec in Security Technology graduates with a GPA of 2.3 and above may also apply for progression to related Higher Nitec courses offered by ITE.

Career Prospects

Nitec in Security Technology graduates are employed by companies that provide security system solutions. Some of the job titles held by graduates include Security Systems Technician, Service Technician and Systems Technician.

There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. This challenge is for students to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge by taking up higher-level courses.

Security Systems Technicians install, commission, troubleshoot and upgrade security systems for companies that provide security systems solutions.
This course is less suitable for students who do not possess the functional abilities indicated.  If in doubt, please consult your school career guidance officer or visit ITE College for further academic advising.
They normally work on-site at customers’ premises where they are required to install, upgrade, configure and maintain surveillance, intrusion detection and access control systems.
